The historic Mujibnagar Day celebration in Agartala is an initiative of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura.
Rising Bengal Dhaka Bureau: Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura, India observed the historic Mujibnagar Day with due solemnity A discussion meeting was held at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission premises on the occasion of Mujibnagar Day on 17 April (Saturday) The programme began with the placing of wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and observing 1 minute silence in memory of the martyrs of the great Liberation War at < ID3 > Ghatika in the morning.
It was followed by the reading of the message of His Excellency the President and the Hon'ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh on the historic Mujibnagar Day at < ID2 > Ghatika in the morning.

The welcome speech was delivered by the First Secretary of the Mission and Head of the Mission, Md Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan, Liberation War Honourary figure Swapan Bhattacharya, eminent educationist Prof Dr Md Mujahid Rahman of Ramthakur College, Agartala, eminent journalist and cultural personality Amit Bhowmik, and First Secretary (Local) of the Mission, Mr < ID1 >.
The distinguished speakers mentioned that the historic "Mujibnagar Day" on 17 April was an unforgettable day in the life of the Bengali nation The formation of the Mujibnagar government further streamlined and structured the Bangladesh Liberation War and extended a hand of support and cooperation to the Bangalis who were struggling armed for independence.
In his speech, Assistant High Commissioner Mohammad Jobayed Hossain recalled with deep reverence the great architect of Bangladesh's independence, the greatest Bangali Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman He recalled the four leaders of the nation, Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, Captain < ID1 > Ali and AHM Kamruzzaman, under whose strong leadership the Mujibnagar government achieved our great independence through a nine-month-long bloody Liberation War.

The competent leadership, right direction and strategy of the Mujibnagar government led the Liberation War to a successful conclusion and Bangladesh emerged victorious through the armed struggle of 16 December 1971.
