All fishing in Bangladesh's territorial waters has been banned for two months.
The Bangladesh government has announced a total ban on all types of fishing in Bangladesh's maritime waters for a total of 65 days from May 20 to July 23.
The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock of Bangladesh issued a notification in this regard on 13 April 2020 under the authority of the Marine Fisheries Act, 2000 for the proper breeding and production of fish, conservation of marine fisheries resources and sustainable fisheries in the marine waters of Bangladesh.
The notification also prohibits fishing of any species by all types of fishing vessels in the country's maritime waters for the said 65 days.
