Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane is visiting Dhaka at the invitation of Bangladesh Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed.
The Indian Army Chief will arrive in Dhaka on Thursday (April 8) on a five-day visit, accompanied by his wife Ms Veena Naravane and a two-member delegation, according to a release from the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
The Indian High Commission said the Indian Army chief will pay a courtesy call on the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Acting Chief of Air Staff and other senior officials of the Bangladesh Army and visit various military bases.
During the visit, the Indian Army Chief will pay homage to the members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces who sacrificed their lives in the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971 by placing a wreath at the altar of Shikha Anirban at Dhaka Cantonment.
The Indian High Commission in the statement also said that the Indian Army Chief will exchange his experiences at the seminar on UN Peacekeeping Operations and will also attend the closing ceremony of the Joint Military Exercise-Fighting of the Peacekeeping Forces, hardware demonstration and closing ceremony.
The visit of the Indian Army chief will further strengthen the close and fraternal ties that exist between the Armed Forces of Bangladesh and India, the release added.
