Woman MP Ferdousi Islam Jessy has built two houses for the family of a late AL worker with her own funds.
Raising Bengal Dhaka Bureau: Ferdousi Islam JC (MP), a female MP from Chapainawabganj reserved constituency, has fulfilled her promise of constructing houses for the homeless family of Golam Mohammad, the martyr soldier of Bangabandhu's ideals, in Mujib Borsho at Masjidpara, Ward No 15 of Sadar Municipality in Chapainawabganj, a northwestern district of Bangladesh, at 11am on Sunday (May 9).
It may be recalled that when no one dared to speak about Bangabandhu in Chapainawabganj after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was killed in his family in 1975, on the night of 19 September 1976, in the then Old Kot area (DC Market), anti-liberation sentiment and Kana Hafiz protested against the criticism of Bangabandhu and the attack case, accusing Ghulam Mohammad of murder, and under the pressure of the then BNP leaders, Ghulam Mohammad was tortured inhumanely.
After 16 long years of imprisonment, he came out of jail and died, his wife Shahidunnesa (75) lost her human balance due to a stroke in her husband's grief The family was living in poverty with their children He said that he felt blessed as a son of a freedom fighter to have built two houses for the family of Ghulam Mohammad, a soldier of Bangabandhu's ideals, at a cost of Tk 117,000.
It may be mentioned that on March 5, MP Jessy, daughter of late Dr AAM Mesbahul Haque (Bachchu Dr ), one of the organizers of the Liberation War, the late Awami League leader, had promised to build the house with her own funds to the family.
Awami League Joint Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Organising Secretary Enamul Haque Shamim, local lawmaker Asheel Ullah Rafiq, district Awami League President Sirajul Mustafa, Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md Ali Hossain, and Cox's Bazar Superintendent of Police Iqbal Hossain were present on the occasion.
