হিন্দুস্থানের বাজাউরে বাবর, দুর্গ দখল ও কাফেরদের কাটা মুণ্ডুর স্তূপ
১৪৯৪ খ্রিস্টাব্দে ১২ বছর বয়সে ফরগনা প্রদেশের শাসক পদে বসেন বাবর। পুরো নাম---জহিরউদ্দিন মহম্মদ বাবর। পরে মধ্য এশিয়ার রাজনীতিতে উজবেক ও সফাবিদের মতো সাফল্য না পেয়ে শেষে হিন্দুস্থান অভিযানে বের হোন বাবর। পিতার দিক থেকে তৈমুর লঙ্ এবং মাতার দিক থেকে চেঙ্গিস খানের বংশধর ছিলেন বাবর। বাবরের দাদু আবু সৈয়দ মির্জা ছিলেন তৈমুরের নাতি এবং বাবরের পিতা ছিলেন দ্বিতীয় ওমর শেখ মির্জা। পিতার দিক থেকে তৈমুরের অধস্তন পঞ্চম পুরুষ ছিলেন বাবর।
অন্যদিকে, বাবরের মামার বাড়ির সূত্রে দাদু ছিলেন মোঙ্গল নেতা ইউনুস খান এবং তাঁর উত্তরসূরী কুতলুঘ নিগার খানুম ছিলেন বাবরের মা। এককথায় বাবর ছিলেন চেঙ্গিস খানের অধস্তন চতুর্দশ পুরুষ।
"মোঙ্গল" থেকে এসেছে "মোগল" বা "মুঘল" কথাটি। এক বয়স্কা মহিলার মুখ থেকে বাবর প্রথম তৈমুরের হিন্দুস্থান অভিযানের কথা শোনেন। আর তারপর থেকেই পিতৃপুরুষের একদা জয় করা হিন্দুস্থান সম্পর্কে তাঁর আগ্রহ জন্মে।
১৫২৬ খ্রিস্টাব্দের এপ্রিলে পানিপথের প্রথম যুদ্ধে আফগান শাসক ইব্রাহিম লোদীকে পরাজিত করে হিন্দুস্থানে মোগল সাম্রাজ্যের ভিত তৈরি করেন বাবর। যুদ্ধে নিহত ইব্রাহিম লোদীর মরদেহ পূর্ণ রাজকীয় মর্যাদায় ইসলামী নিয়ম মেনে সমাহিত করা হয় বলে জানাচ্ছেন ঐতিহাসিক ফেরিশতা। কিন্তু মৃত কাফেরদের ক্ষেত্রে তা হয়নি। বাবর তাঁর আত্মজীবনী "বাবরনামা"-য় নিজের হিন্দুস্থান অভিযানের বর্ণনা করেছেন।
বাবর প্রথমেই হিন্দুস্থানের যে রাজ্যটি দখল করেন, সেটি হলো উত্তর-পূর্ব সীমান্তের একটি ছোট হিন্দু রাজ্য বাজাউর। বাবর তাঁর আত্মজীবনী "বাবরনামা"-য় জানাচ্ছেন, ---
"As the Bajauris were rebels and enmity with the people of Islam, and as, by reason of the heathenish and hostile customs prevailing in their midst, the very name of Islam was rooted out from their tribe, they were put to general massacre and their wives and children were made captive. At a guses more than 3000 men went to their death. The fort taken, we entered and inspected it. On the walls, in houses, streets and alleys, the dead lay, in what numbers ! Comers and goers to and fro were passing over the bodies."----Babur Nama, Page-370: A.S. Beveridge.
অর্থাৎ, বিদ্রোহী ও ইসলামের শত্রু ছিল বাজাউরের মানুষজন। ইসলাম বিরোধী আচার-অনুষ্ঠান প্রচলিত ছিল বলে সেখানে ইসলামের নাম পর্যন্ত ছিল না। প্রচণ্ড লড়াইয়ের শেষে এখানকার সবাইকে নির্বিচারে হত্যা করে নারী ও শিশুদের বন্দি করা হয়। নিহত হয় অন্তত ৩ হাজার হিন্দু। দুর্গে ঢুকে আমরা চারদিকে ঘুরে দেখলাম। প্রতিটি কক্ষে, রাস্তায়, অলিতে-গলিতে পড়ে রাশি রাশি মৃতদেহ। সবাই মৃতদেহের ওপর দিয়েই আসা-যাওয়া করছে।
বাবর আরও জানাচ্ছেন, --
"(January 11 ) With mind easy about the important affairs of the Bajaur fort, we marched, on Tuesday the 9th Muharram, one Kuroh (2-miles) down the dale of Bajaur and ordered that a tower of heads should be set up on the rising-ground."----Babur Nama, Page-371: A.S. Beveridge."
অর্থাৎ, জানুয়ারির ১১ তারিখ। বাজাউর দুর্গ নিয়ে আমার মন এখন শান্ত, কোনো উদ্বেগ নেই। বাজাউর উপত্যকা ধরে এগিয়ে চলেছি আমরা। হিন্দুদের কাটা মুণ্ডু দিয়ে উঁচু জায়গায় একটি স্তূপ তৈরি করার আদেশ দিলাম।
শুরুর দিকে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে, পানিপথের প্রথম যুদ্ধে নিহত আফগান শাসক ইব্রাহিম লোদীর মৃতদেহ পূর্ণ রাজকীয় মর্যাদায় সমাহিত করেন বাবর, অথচ সেই তিনিই হিন্দুদের কাটা মাথা দিয়ে টাওয়ার তৈরির আদেশ দেন।
রাশিয়া অভিযানের সময় একদিনের আউস্তাবলিৎস যুদ্ধে শুধুমাত্র অভিজাত বংশীয় সৈন্যদের মৃতদেহ দেখে ফরাসি সম্রাট নেপোলিয়ন অনুশোচনায় বলেছিলেন, ---

অর্থাৎ, আগামীকাল সেন্ট পিটার্সবার্গে বহু সুন্দরী নারীর শোকধ্বনি শোনা যাবে। যুদ্ধক্ষেত্রে নিহত সৈন্যদের মৃতদেহ দেখে যেখানে ফরাসি সম্রাট নেপোলিয়ন অনুতপ্ত হয়েছিলেন, সেখানে হিন্দুস্থানে হিন্দুদের মৃত্যুতে উল্লসিত হয়েছিলেন জহিরউদ্দিন মহম্মদ বাবর !
