Bangabandhu's'Grain Picture'made of rice plants in Bangladesh has been entered into the Guinness Book of World Records.
Rising Bengal Dhaka Bureau: The world's largest painting titled'Grain Picture Bangabandhu'made of rice plants on 100 bighas of land in Bogra, Bangladesh has made its way into the Guinness Book of World Records.
In Grapeshitra, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu National Council Convener Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim today said the Guinness Book authorities confirmed the world record of the painting covering 100 bighas or 129 2 million square feet in an email on March 16 The information has also been uploaded on the Guinness Book website.
Organizers said that a series of grand events were planned across the country last year to mark Bangabandhu's birth centenary, but due to the Corona disaster, it could not be done in a befitting manner For the first time, a committee named'Bangabandhu Jatiya Parishad on Grain Painting'was formed under the leadership of Awami League Joint General Secretary Agrarian Bahauddin Nasim to paint Bangabandhu's paintings using the vast canvas of green Bengal.
The massive project was funded by the private sector National Agricare, which selected 100 bighas of cropland in Balendra village of Bhabanipur union of Sherpur upazila in Bogra about six months ago as the site, and then made the land cultivable and planted seedbeds to produce seedlings from two varieties of rice, including purple rice from abroad.
To make the painting of Bangabandhu appear in the crop field, 185 members of the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) were employed to decide how to plant rice seedlings of which colour and how much to cover They marked the places where the bamboo poles were to be buried Then on 1 February, the farmers started planting rice seedlings in collaboration with the BNCC cadets.
