The official statement from the Chinese embassy came after a leading news outlet reported the news on Thursday.

"Relations with Indian staff have always been good and will continue to be so in the past and present, as the contribution of Indian staff to the smooth functioning of the Embassy is unquestionable," it said.

Indian diplomats fear another reason for this, as Pakistan's Indian envoys and staff were flown back home despite diplomatic distance with another hostile country, Pakistan, which had first expressed its hostility towards India.
