The United Nations peacekeeping mission in war-torn and sectarian strife-torn Darfur, Sudan, currently has FPUs (Formed Police Units) from 11 countries, including one unit of the Bangladesh Police, serving as a global peacekeeping force Each such unit usually has 140 to 160 police personnel The Bangladesh FPU is headed by an officer of the rank of Superintendent of Police as its commander.

Commander Mohammad Abdul Halim of the Formed Police Unit of Bangladesh Police was awarded the'Certificate of the Best Commander of the Year'for his role in social development and implementing the mandate of peacekeeping missions, protecting the environment and controlling Covid Commander Muhammad Abdul Halim along with the proud members of Bangladesh Police deployed in Darfur peacekeeping were honoured for their outstanding contribution and bringing laurels to Bangladesh Police and Bangladesh.
