Rising Bengal Dhaka Bureau: In view of the situation arising on Wednesday (April 14), the first day of a week-long lockdown announced by the Government of Bangladesh due to the global epidemic (COVID-19) coronavirus, the Bengali New Year-1428 is being celebrated in the capital Dhaka University with a limited symbolic program.
State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid and DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman led the symbolic procession, which was attended by Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof ASM Maksud Kamal, Treasurer Prof Momtaz Uddin Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Prof Nisar Hossain, President of the DU Teachers Association Prof Md Rahmat Ullah, General Secretary Prof Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, and a small number of teachers and students of the Faculty of Fine Arts.
