A Dhaka court has placed Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh central joint secretary general and Dhaka city committee general secretary Maulana Mamunul Haque on a 7-day remand in connection with a case filed for vandalism in Dhaka's Mohammadpur.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari passed the order after hearing the remand petition at 11: 30am on Monday (April 19), confirmed the court from the general registration branch of the police station concerned.

The case was filed with Mohammadpur police station by a local man accusing Mamunul of assault, causing grievous hurt by hitting with intent to kill, theft, threatening and intentionally disturbing religious observance.
Earlier on Sunday (April 18), he was arrested from Jamia Rahmania Madrasa in the capital's Mohammadpur area at around 12: 30pm.
