Rising Bengal Dhaka Bureau: The inauguration of the government rice procurement program from millers through digital rice procurement apps in all the upazilas of Khulna district of Bangladesh was held at Maheshwor Pasha Food Warehouse premises in Khulna today (Wednesday) noon The chief guest of the event was Sadhan Chandra Majumder, Minister of Food, Government of Bangladesh, who joined the online program.
The food minister said no farmer can be harassed Farmers are our other donors, if they survive, the country will survive Rice production will be done at a standard level Millers who give 100% rice will be rewarded The minister highly appreciated the district administration for their initiative He said that it is possible to strengthen the economy and achieve the Millennium Development Goals by increasing agricultural production.
Bangladesh is self-sufficient in food and is also exporting food abroad.
Khulna-2 MP Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel joined the event as the guest of honour Secretary to the Ministry of Food Dr Mosammat Nazmanara Khanum joined the event as the special guest Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Md Helal Hossain presided over the event Regional Food Controller Md Mahbubur Rahman, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Md Hafizur Rahman, General Secretary of the city Awami League MDA Babul Rana, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Md Sadiqur Rahman Khan, President of the Union of Journalists Munshi Md Mahbub Alam Sohag, General Secretary of the District Rice Mill Owners Association Md Abdus Sobhan, and others were present.
It is to be noted that this year the target for rice procurement in Khulna district is 17,522 metric tons The number of millers is 126 Out of which, 17 are auto millers and one is manual (husking) millers The price of rice per kg has been fixed at Tk40.
