Swechchchhasebak League pays floral tribute at the grave of Sher-e-Bangla on his 59th death anniversary in Dhaka.
Rising Bengal Dhaka Bureau: Tuesday, 27 April is the 59th death anniversary of the late Sher-e-Bangla Abul Kashem Fazlul Huq, a prominent politician of the subcontinent and one of the leaders of Bengali nationalism, who breathed his last on this day in 1962.
Bangladesh Awami Swechchhasebak League observed a minute's silence at the grave of Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq in the capital on Tuesday (April 27) at 10am on the 59th death anniversary of the late leader by paying tributes and paying respect to him.
The president of the organization, Nirmal Ranjan Guha, and the general secretary, Afzalur Rahman Babu, led the tribute paying ceremony along with vice-president, Mojibur Rahman Swapan, organizing secretary, Abdullah Al Sayem, deputy legal secretary, Advocate Zeeshan Mahmud, and executive member, Abu Zafar.
Noted Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq held many important positions including Mayor of Calcutta (1935), Chief Minister of undivided Bengal (1937-1943) and East Bengal (1954), Interior Minister of Pakistan (1955) and Governor of East Pakistan (1956-1958).
