Amazon is in for a major shakeup with Jeff Bezos stepping down as CEO and Andy Jassy coming in.
Jeff Bezos has taken the big step from being a startup company to becoming one of the largest companies in the world.
Jeff Bezos said the move was because he needed to devote "time and energy" to focus on his other ventures.
Andy Jassy is replacing Jeff Bezos, the world's richest person, who is currently leading Amazon's cloud computing business.
Amazon has announced that Andy Jassy will replace Jeff Bezos in mid-2021.
In a letter to Amazon employees on Tuesday, Bezos said that as Amazon's chief executive officer (CEO), he has a deep commitment to the company and therefore cannot focus on any other issues.
He also said that as the director of operations, I would need to be involved in the Amazon venture, but that I would need to have enough time and motivation to look at the fund management side of the Day One Fund, the Bezos Earth Fund, and the Washington Post Fund.
Bezos concluded by saying, "I did not have the necessary motivation, but that does not mean I am hinting at retirement I will continue to be involved with this company with all my heart and I believe our company will continue to benefit from it ".
Amazon was started by Jeff Bezos in 1994 as a start-up in his garage The company gradually grew to become a success It is now an American e-commerce giant with multiple services including online shopping, music, streaming, cloud computing, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
