The Centre's new initiative, Gita and Ramayana, will be taught in some madrasas.
The new syllabus of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) will include the Gita, Ramayana and Hindu scriptures from Madrasas The new syllabus of NIOS has been proposed by the Union Education Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal The new syllabus will be taught in classes 3, 5 and 8 Sources say that about 100 madrasas will teach these scriptures.
It is also reported that the new proposal calls for a total of 15 courses, namely, Vedas, Yoga, Science, Vocational Skills, Sanskrit Language, Ramayana and Mahabharata, besides teaching various verses of Bhagavad Gita and Maheshwara Sutras, etc.
The new syllabus will be introduced in 100 Madrasas initially, with a target of 500 later, said NIOS Chairman Speaking on the new syllabus, Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal said, "Bharatvarsh is a part of ancient language, science and culture ".
