রাইজি়ং বেঙ্গল নিউজ় ব্যুরো: আমেরিকায় ঊর্ধ্বমুখী জ্বালানির দাম। গ্যাসের দাম সেখানের সাধারণ মানুষের ধরা ছোঁয়ার বাইরে চলে যাচ্ছে, এমনটাই দাবি করা হচ্ছে। এই অবস্থাতেই আলোচনার কেন্দ্রে কমলা হ্যারিসের প্রতিক্রিয়া। সম্প্রতি কমলা নিউ অরলিন্সে গেছিলেন। সেখানেরই এক অনুষ্ঠানে গ্যাসের মূল্য বৃদ্ধি সংক্রান্ত মন্তব্যের জবাবে তিনি কার্যত হেসে ফেললেন। মানুষের যেখানে দৈনন্দিন জীবন অতিবাহিত করতে গিয়ে ঘাম বেরিয়ে যাচ্ছে, অবস্থা নাজেহাল হয়ে যাচ্ছে, সেখানে মূল্যবৃদ্ধি প্রসঙ্গে মার্কিন ভাইস প্রেসিডেন্টের ‘হাসি’ ই এবার তাঁকে কাঠগড়ায় দাঁড় করিয়ে দিল।
চলতি সপ্তাহে তথা ৪ঠা জুলাই তারিখে নিউ অরলিন্সের লুসিয়ানাতে একটি সাক্ষাৎকারের আয়োজন করা হয়েছিল। এই অনুষ্ঠানের হোস্ট কেকে পাল্মার কমলা হ্যারিসের কাছে গ্যাসের মূল্যবৃদ্ধি সংক্রান্ত একটি মিম তুলে ধরেন। সেই মিমে বলা হয় যে, “আমি গুগল করছি যে, এবার বাড়িতে কী করে গ্যাস বানানো যায়”। এই মন্তব্যের প্রতিক্রিয়াতেই ‘হেসে’ কমলা হ্যারিস বলতে থাকেন, “না না, এটা করো না। না না, এটা করো না”।
এরপরেই শুরু হয়ে যায় সমালোচনার ঝড়। উল্লেখ্য, ‘দ্য ট্রুথ ইস আউট দেয়ার’ নামক একটি টুইটার হ্যান্ডেল থেকে টুইট করে বলা হয়, “বিগত সপ্তাহে শুক্রবার তথা ১লা জুলাইয়ের তথ্য অনুযায়ী, ওইদিন আমেরিকা যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে ঘরোয়া গ্যাসের দাম ৪.৮৪ ডলার হয়ে গেছিল। এই মূল্য বিগত দুই বছরের তুলনায় দ্বিগুণেরও বেশি দামে বেড়েছে”। অপরদিকে, ‘আরলেন মিলার’ নামক আরেকটি টুইটার প্রোফাইলের তরফে ক্ষোভের সুরে প্রশ্ন করা হয়েছে, “কমলা হ্যারিসকে তো দেখে মনে হচ্ছে, তিনি সবকিছুতেই হাসেন। তাহলে কি সত্যিই গ্যাস বা অন্যকিছু কিনতে তাঁকে সংঘর্ষ করতে হয় না? ”
