এই প্রসঙ্গে ফিরহাদ হাকিম জানিয়েছেন, ''আগামী লোকসভা নির্বাচনে বিজেপি যদি দুইয়ের বেশি আসন পায়, আমি কান ধরে ওঠবস করব। সুকান্তবাবু যা শর্ত দেবেন তাই মানব। যদি না হয় কী করবেন, উনি বলুন।'' এরপর তিনি বিজেপি সভাপতির দাবিকে হাওয়াই উড়িয়ে দিয়ে বলেন, 'আসন্ন লোকসভা ভোটে বিজেপি একটা আসনও পাবে না, এই রাজ্য থেকে।'
প্রসঙ্গত, একুশের বিধানসভা ভোটে বিজেপি ডাবল ইঞ্জিন সরকার গঠন করার স্বপ্ন দেখেছিল। সেই সময় রাজ্য বিজেপি নেতাদের স্লোগান ছিল, আব কি বার দোশো পার। কিন্তু ভোটের ফলাফলে দেখা গিয়েছিল, পদ্ম শিবিরের স্বপ্ন স্বপ্নই থেকে গিয়েছে। অন্যদিকে, তৃতীয়বারের জন্য মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।
