ঐতিহাসিক ফেরিশতার তথ্য উদ্ধৃত করে খাজা নিজামুদ্দিন তাঁর "তবকৎ-ই-আকবরী"-তে জানাচ্ছেন, ---

অর্থাৎ, কাফেরদের বিরুদ্ধে তিনি ২৪ বার জিহাদ বা ধর্মযুদ্ধ পরিচালনা করেন। ১৩৯৮ খ্রিস্টাব্দে তিনি তৈমুরলঙের কাছে দূত পাঠিয়ে হিন্দুস্থান আক্রমণের জানান। সেখান থেকে সৈন্য ও রসদসহ সব ধরণের সাহায্যের প্রতিশ্রুতি মিলেছিল।
এ বিষয়ে ঐতিহাসিক খাজা নিজামুদ্দিন জানাচ্ছেন, ---
"In 804 A.H., 1398 A.D. Firuz Shah sent an embassy to Timur, who it appears was then contemplating the conquest of Hindustan, and offering his submission and proposing to render help and send reinforcements in the event of his sending an army to conquer Hindustan."----The Tabaqat-I-Akbari, Vol. III, Page-32: Khwajah Nizamuddin.
পরবর্তী বাহমনী শাসক আহম্মদ খান ১৪২২ খ্রিস্টাব্দে।"আহম্মদ শাহ বাহমনী" উপাধি নিয়ে সিংহাসনে বসেন। তিনিও বিজয়নগর রাজ্যটি দখলের জন্য সামরিক অভিযানের প্রস্তুতি নেন। এই উদ্দেশ্যে ৪০ হাজার অশ্বারোহী বাহিনী নিয়ে হাজির হোন তুঙ্গভদ্রার তীরে। খবর পেয়ে বিজয়নগররাজ দেব রায় সেনাবাহিনী নিয়ে তুঙ্গভদ্রার নদীর অপর পাড়ে শিবির স্থাপন করলেন।
নদীতে তখন প্রবল স্রোত। নদী পেরোতে পারছে না সুলতান বাহিনী। অবশেষে ৪০ দিন অপেক্ষার পর অধৈর্য সুলতান নদী পেরোলেন রাতের অন্ধকারে। এদিকে বিজয়নগররাজ দেব রায় তখন ঘুমুচ্ছেন। আকষ্মিক আক্রমণে হতভম্ব রাজা দেব রায় আত্মরক্ষার জন্য সরে পড়লেন।
সুলতান বাহিনী মেতে উঠলো লুটপাট ও গণহত্যায়। সাধারণ মানুষ থেকে শুরু করে বৃদ্ধ-নারী-শিশু সবাইকে নির্বিচারে হত্যা করা হয়। ২০ হাজার মানুষকে খতম করার পর তিনদিনের বিরতি ঘোষণা করা হতো। এই তিনদিনে চলতো বিজয় উৎসব উপলক্ষে এলাহি খাওয়া-দাওয়া এবং সেই সঙ্গে উপহার দেওয়া-নেওয়া। এরপর ফের শুরু হতো গণহত্যা। পাশাপাশি এলাকার মন্দির ও শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলিকে ধ্বংস করে দেওয়া হতো।
এ বিষয়ে ইওরোপীয় ঐতিহাসিক রবার্ট শেওয়েল বলছেন, ---

অর্থাৎ, নিহতের সংখ্যা ২০ হাজারে পৌঁছলেই মহম্মদ শাাহ সমস্ত মানবিক মূূল্যবোধ বিসর্জন দিয়ে এই নৃশংস গণহত্যাকে স্মরণীয় করে রাখতে তিনদিন ধরে আয়োজন করতেন উৎসবের। সমস্ত মন্দির ও শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানকে ধ্বংস করেছেন তিনি।
এই নৃশংস গণহত্যার বিরুদ্ধে হিন্দুরা সংঘবদ্ধ হয়ে রুখে দাঁড়ায়। প্রায় ৫ হাজার হিন্দু জোটবদ্ধ হয়ে প্রাণ দিয়েও এই গণহত্যার প্রতিশোধ নিতে প্রতিজ্ঞাবদ্ধ হয়। এই উদ্দেশ্যে সুলতান আহম্মদ শাহ বাহমনীর গতিবিধি লক্ষ্য রাখতে গুপ্তচর নিয়োগ করে। একদিন সুলতান শিকারে গিয়ে সৈনদলের থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে পড়েন। খবর পেয়ে হিন্দুরা তাঁকে তাড়া করে। তবে ইতিমধ্যে সুলতানের দেহরক্ষী ও সৈন্যরা এসে পড়লে তুমুল লড়াইয়ের পর সুলতান সে যাত্রায় বেঁচে যান।
এরপর ১৪২৫ খ্রিস্টাব্দে মাহুর জমিদারের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ ঘোষণা করেন সুলতান আহম্মদ শাহ বাহমনী। মাহুর জমিদার আত্মসমর্পণ করেন। ঐতিহাসিক ফেরিশতার বিবরণে প্রকাশ, সুলতান আহম্মদ শাহ বাহমনী চুক্তি ভঙ্গ করে ৬ হাজার সৈন্যসহ মাহুর শাসককে হত্যার আদেশ দেন। এরপর জমিদারের ছেলে-মেয়েদের বন্দি করে ইসলামে ধর্মান্তরিত করা হয়। তারপর কালান দুর্গ ও হীরার খনির দখল নেন সুলতান আহম্মদ শাহ বাহমনী।
"Firisthah says that after the Zaminder of Mahu had submitted, the Sultan breaking his engagement with him, had him and five or six thousand Hindus put to death, and imprisoned their sons and daughters, and forced them to became Musalmans.
