Bangladesh workers will have to stay at work for three days of the government holiday on Eid - State Minister for Labour.
Dhaka: State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian on Sunday said that if workers of all industries, including garment, are not getting holidays for Eid, they will take a decision after holding a meeting at the factory level.
The state minister said the owners must pay all the dues including the salary and bonus of the workers by tomorrow The owner representatives present in the meeting assured to pay the salary and bonus of the workers of almost 100 percent of the factories by tomorrow.
The state minister said the government, on the advice of health experts, has directed all to celebrate Eid at their respective workplaces instead of going to village homes.
Secretary of the ministry KM Abdus Salam, additional secretary ID1 Haque, inspector general of the Directorate General of Industries and Commerce Md Nasir Uddin Ahmed, director general of the Labour Department Gautam Chakrabarty and leaders of different organisations of the garment industry were present at the meeting.
