দক্ষিণ ভারত আক্রমণে মহম্মদ শাহ, পাল্টা আক্রমণে যুদ্ধক্ষেত্র ছাড়তে হলো মুজাহিদ শাহকে
শুধু উত্তর ভারত নয়, দক্ষিণ ভারতের মাটিতেও মুসলমান আক্রমণ ঘটেছিল বেশ কয়েক বার। আজ আমরা এই বিষয়টি নিয়েই আলোচনা করবো। দক্ষিণের মুসলমান রাজ্যগুলির মধ্যে সবচেয়ে শক্তিশালী ছিলেন বাহমনী সুলতানরা। এই বংশের প্রথম সুলতান ছিলেন আলাউদ্দিন হাসান শাহ। ১৩৪৭ খ্রিস্টাব্দে তিনি সিংহাসনে বসেন এবং তাঁর মৃত্যুর পর ১৩৫৮ খ্রিস্টাব্দে বাহমনী রাজ্যের সুলতান হোন তাঁরই পুত্র মহম্মদ শাহ।
সিংহাসনে বসেই তরুণ শাসক রাজ্য জয়ের উদ্দেশ্যে এক বিশাল বাহিনী তৈরি করেন এবং বিলামপটন অভিযান শুরু করেন।
এ বিষয়ে ঐতিহাসিক খাজা নিজামুদ্দিন তাঁর "তবকৎ-ই-আকবরী"-তে জানাচ্ছেন, ---
"Applying all his energies to the conquest of territory and the reviving of the customs of religious warfare (Jehad), he in the spring time of his reign... Collected a well-equipped army and started for Bilampatan."----Tabaqat-I-Akbari, Vol.III, Page-13: Khwajah Nizamuddin.
এই নবগঠিত সেনাবাহিনী নিয়ে নিজের রাজ্যের দু'পাশের বিশাল ভূ-খণ্ড দখল করে নেন সুলতান মহম্মদ শাহ। ওই এলাকার হিন্দু রাজা আশ্রয় নেন নিজের সুরক্ষিত দুর্গে। মহম্মদ শাহ সে দুর্গ দখল করে সেখানকার সমস্ত লোকজনকে হত্যা করেন। এরপর শুরু হয় বিজয় উৎসব। আমোদ-আহ্লাদ সেরে নিজের রাজ্যে ফেরেন।
মহম্মদ শাহের মৃত্যুর পর তাঁর পুত্র মুজাহিদ শাহ সিংহাসনে বসেন। ১৩৭৮ খ্রিস্টাব্দে মুজাহিদ শাহ আক্রমণ করেন রাজা কৃষ্ণ রায়ের বিজয়নগর রাজ্য। রাজা কৃষ্ণ রায় আত্মরক্ষার্থে নিজের সুরক্ষিত দুর্গে আশ্রয় নেন।
মুজাহিদ শাহ তাঁর সেনাপতি সফদার খানের ওপর সে দুর্গ অবরোধের দায়িত্ব দিয়ে নিজে রামেশ্বর সেতুবন্ধের দিকে যান। সেখানে গিয়ে সমস্ত মন্দির ধ্বংস করেন এবং আলাউদ্দিন খিলজির তৈরি মসজিদের সংস্কার করেন।
ঐতিহাসিক খাজা নিজামুদ্দিন তাঁর "তবকৎ-ই-আকবরী" গ্রন্থে জানাচ্ছেন, ---
"...and there he repaired a mosque, which Sultan Ala-ud-din Khaljee had built and demolished the idol temples."----The Tabaqat-I-Akbari, Vol. III, Page-19: Khwajah Nizamuddin.
অন্যদিকে, এ বিষয়ে আরেক ঐতিহাসিক রবার্ট শেওয়েল জানাচ্ছেন, ---
"The Sultan at this place repaired a mosque which had been built by the officers of Sultan Ala-uddhin Khiljee. He broke down many temples of the idolaters."----A Forgotten Empire, Page-41: Robert Sewell.
এ বিষয়ে ঐতিহাসিক ফেরিশতা জানাচ্ছেন, সুলতান বিজয়নগর ফিরে সেখানকার মণি-মাণিক্যখচিত সবচেয়ে বড়ো মন্দিরটি ধ্বংস করেন। এরপর সুলতান রাজা কৃষ্ণ রায়কে আক্রমণ করেন।
দু'পক্ষের তুমুল যুদ্ধের পর যখন রাজা কৃষ্ণ রায় পরাজয়ের মুখে, তখনই একটি ঘটনায় ঘুরে যায় যুদ্ধের মোড়। রাজা কৃষ্ণ রায়ের ভাই এক বিশাল সৈন্যবাহিনী নিয়ে পাল্টা আক্রমণ করেন মুজাহিদ শাহকে।
এবার রীতিমতো কোণঠাসা হয়ে পরাজয় নিশ্চিত বুঝে যুদ্ধক্ষেত্র ছেড়ে নিজের রাজ্যে ফিরে যান হতাশ সুলতান মুজাহিদ শাহ।
